OUR TEAM

CAIN, DANIEL M.

Chairman, New York
Dan is a nationally recognized leader in the health care finance field. Before starting Cain Brothers in 1982, Dan was Manager of the Health Care Group at Salomon Brothers (1980-82) and a Senior Vice President with Blyth Eastman Dillon (1975-80). He was in the real estate finance department of Merrill Lynch prior to that.

Dan left Salomon Brothers to start Cain Brothers, recognizing the unique regulatory and technology challenges confronting voluntary and investor-owned health care providers. Industry specialization permits a singular approach to capital financing and corporate development not easily addressed by diversified financial institutions.

Dan is a frequent speaker at industry and academic conferences and an author of publications including Capital Finance, an Aspen publication describing the process of health care capital formation. Dan grew up in Holyoke, Massachusetts and is a graduate of Brown University with a degree in American Civilization. He also has a MBA from the Columbia University School of Business. Dan is an independent trustee of IXIS/Loomis Sayles, Sheridan Healthcare, and Brim Healthcare. He is also a trustee of American Heart Association, the Norman Rockwell Museum, and an overseer of Columbia Business School.
